Healthy soil
Cashew: compost and natural fertilizers improve soil health and reduce chemical pollution. Pistachio: cover crops between the trees reduce erosion and improve soil health.
Biodiversity and pest control
Cashew: growing trees alongside other crops or trees protects biodiversity and reduces erosion. Pistachio: pest monitoring and natural predators reduce unnecessary pesticide use.
Less waste of water and fruit
Cashew: the cashew apples are used for juice or other products instead of being thrown away. Pistachio: drip irrigation delivers water straight to the roots and reduces water waste.
